Does it cost anything to get quotes?
No. Asking for quotes is free, and you don’t have to choose one. If you do, you pay a 5% deposit through NOHM that is credited toward your accepted quote. Nothing is added to the price.
How does the 5% deposit work?
When you select a contractor, you pay a 5% deposit through NOHM to secure the job. NOHM holds this deposit on behalf of your contractor, and the full amount is credited toward your accepted quote.
Your contractor pays NOHM a 5% service fee, which is deducted from the funds collected for the contractor. It is not added to your quoted price.
For example, if your accepted quote is $1,000, you pay a $50 deposit through NOHM. The remaining balance is $950, so your total remains exactly $1,000.
When can I choose?
Once every quote is in, or when the quote window closes. Quotes appear in the order they arrive, never ranked by price, and you don’t have to pick any.
Can I get the deposit back?
Yes, if your pro doesn’t show up, abandons the job, can’t supply the quoted equipment or won’t honor the accepted scope. If you cancel or change your mind after your pro is secured, the deposit is nonrefundable. If NOHM makes a mistake, NOHM refunds you.
Will pros call me?
No. Pros message you inside NOHM, and your phone number and address stay private until you pay the deposit to the pro you chose.
What if the price changes on site?
Your pro checks everything in person first. If something is different, like a unit that needs a bigger size, they must show photos and a reason, and the price only changes if you approve it.
Can I finance it?
Eligible projects can be paid over time with Affirm through NOHM, subject to an eligibility check. You choose Pay over time at checkout and apply on Affirm’s own secure page. The price is the same either way, and when you pay over time NOHM collects the full price through Affirm, with no separate deposit.
Some pros also offer their own financing outside the NOHM network. That is a separate agreement between you and the pro. How NOHM financing works
Do the pros who aren’t chosen see my answer?
They only see the main reason you picked, like “Best overall price”. Never your name, the winning pro, the winning price or anything you typed.
